What We’re Looking For
It’s important that any content we publish is of a high standard. To join the team, you must be a competent writer with strong English written skills. Your writing needs to be interesting and engaging, but also relevant and suitable for a news blog. However, you don’t necessarily need to write about news; you’ll be able to write about nearly any topic related to GameMaker.
Submitted content will be reviewed by our editorial team with only high quality articles making publication. The kind of articles we are interested in receiving include:
- Analysis or opinion on recent GameMaker news or community discussions
- GameMaker game reviews (PC and other platforms)
- GameMaker tutorials, tips and tricks
When writing an article you should ensure that it is:
- Not overly promotional
- Clear on what is opinion and what is fact
We will be paying writers who submit content to us. Of course, this will not be a large amount and you shouldn’t expect to quit your day job to write for Game Maker Blog. Long-term contributors will benefit the most from writing for us; the more articles you write the more you will earn.
Unlike most websites, Game Maker Blog is not strongly monetized so we do not receive a return on investment for paid content. We pay for content simply to provide more for our readers to enjoy.
It wouldn’t be difficult to earn between $20-$50 per month writing for us. The amount we pay for each article depends on the quality, length, and expected user interest. For example, a 500-word game review might be worth $3, whereas a 1500-word tutorial might be worth $10. Depending on your monthly contribution to the blog, a bonus may also be paid.
All payments will be sent via PayPal.
For your first submission, you should prepare an article and email it to the editor. You can include hyperlinks and images in your submission if desired, though it will solely be your writing that is judged. The length and content of the article is your choice. Do not plagiarize or steal content from other sources.
If the article is up to standard, a user account will be created for you on the blog and you’ll be able to submit additional articles for review. If you’re only planning to write for us on rare occasion, a user account will not be created and instead you’ll be asked to submit all of your articles by email.
If you’re ready to apply to become a writer for Game Maker Blog simply follow the instructions above to make your first submission. If you have any questions, feel free to Contact Us.
