What is Game Maker Station doing?

Game Maker Station obviously sees itself as the new GMKing.  A recent e-mail to forum members outlined the services they offer which include a forum, a chat room, a blog network, a game maker top sites list, a game maker school and file hosting and email services.  Not to mention a poor-mans version of this […]

    GMVision and GMGRS merge

GMVision (episode 2) is to merge with the Game Maker Game Review Show (episode 3). The idea behind the move is that it will enable GMVision to produce shorter, more regular, ‘minisodes’ alongside their existing longer episodes. Rival show GMTV (episode 6) released a series of short one topic shows in April and May this year […]

    2009 Predictions: 6 months on

At the start of the year we asked readers of this blog to predict whether or not certain events would happen this year.  Now six months on how have the predictions fared?

55% of you thought that the mac version of Game Maker would be released.  At the end of last year we had just seen the release of the first closed beta.  Recently we showed you some exclusive screenshots and videos of a more up-to-date version and the second beta has since been sent to testers.  We still do not know whether YoYo Games intend to release Game Maker 7 for Mac or will jump straight to Game Maker 8 Mac.  The current version however is Game Maker 7.

The same percentage of you thought that Game Maker 8.0 would be published.  This should happen with the recent release of a public beta and the latest word from Mark Overmars being that a launch is planned “during or after the summer”.

    New wiki design

The official Game Maker wiki on YoYoGames.com has today received a face-lift as a new theme designed by GMKing has been installed.  The new look, as yet un-announced by YYG, is a much-needed improvement on the previous template which suffered from a narrow page design and small text. My only criticism is the placement of […]

    GameMaker Blog 2008 Award Winners

Voting in the four remaining categories of Game Maker Blog’s Community Awards has ended, with a total of over 250 votes being made.  The results have been checked and the final figures are posted below.

The voting in “Best source of Game Maker tutorials and/or examples” surprised me as this was the award that had received the most votes, despite one major player being the Official GameMaker Community which was not campaigning.

In the end it was a pretty comfortable victory for the GMC, 12 votes clear of runner-up MarkUp which was well ahead of both other websites.
