GMLive’s Third Game Maker Radio Show (Listen again)

What is it with those expected on GMLive not turning up?  Dan Eggers (as usual) was absent yet for some reason the hosts were still expecting him to turn up along with last weeks co-host Robin Monks. It was understandable therefore that the show didn’t start off particularly strongly with many topics briefly skipped over in the first half […]

GMLive’s Second Game Maker Radio Show (Listen again)

Two weeks after their maiden broadcast GMLive returned with a one hour 50 minute Game Maker discussion earlier today. Problems with the streaming at the start of the show meant that the introduction of hosts Robin Monks and Caniac could not be heard by many, if not all, listeners however things quickly improved. Sadly my Internet speed […]

    GMVision takes over GMIndie

Hammers can be used to fix things, build games!? and now symbolise a take-over

I wondered why GMVision, creators of a Game Maker video show and previously the GMLive Game Maker radio, had collaborated with the over-ambitious GMIndie to run the recent poorly implemented Game Maker Survey.

Things obviously ran a little deeper than I thought as it appears that GMVision has now taken over complete control of GMIndie.

Looking back our very brief write-up of the last GMLive show, broadcast in February this year, mentions that the next show date had not been announced because “host Joshua is considering the possibility of a merge with GMIndie Radio”.  No GMLive episodes were released after this and I had presumed the idea was dead.

GMTalk Game Maker Podcast – Episode 2

Andrew McCluskey, Jack Brockley, Noel Berry and myself have recorded a second GMTalk Game Maker podcast episode.

In the 37 minute show we discuss the downfall of quality Game Maker media and experiences of collaborating in Game Maker team projects.  We also look back at the Game Maker entries in the recent GameJolt weekend Jam as well as taking a quick look at some other issues.

GMB Survey: A Big Thank You (and the results!)

I am really pleased with the level of participation we received in our recent site survey.  There were over fifty full submissions in less than 24 hours.  The feedback provided by those who kindly gave us a few minutes of their time will be put to good use to improve our future offerings.

It feels strange to have had to ask in this way as readers are happy to comment on Game Maker, Game Maker games, and the Game Maker websites and media publications we cover but we rarely get to hear your opinions on the site itself.

Below is a summary of the results:

    • Opinion was split pretty evenly on whether we should add more game reviews and interviews.
    • The vast majority of you (~90%) wanted to see more technical items.
    • Two thirds of you thought more posts would be good but only 10% wanted “lots more”.
    • I was pleasantly surprised with the ratings for trustworthiness, speed of coverage,  breaking stores and quality of articles.
    • 90% of you knew that GMTalk existed but less than a quarter of respondents had listened to it.

    GMIndie’s World Domination Plan

GMIndie appear not to be content just hosting two live radio shows and releasing a magazine every week.  They plan to run a third radio show each week and to launch “GMIndie TV“. Their site lists thirteen twelve members who aim to release “the best game maker entertainment”.  I think they mean media. Why can’t […]

    GMTalk Game Maker Podcast

At around 4:30pm GMT today several Game Maker users decided to get together to record a Game Maker podcast named GMTalk (all the other names were taken, you know GMcast, GMlive, GMindie).   This evening Andrew McCluskey, Jack Brockley, James Garner and myself took a look at FlashPunk, the entries in the GameJolt rogue-themed game making competition, game maker games on consoles and more. We also discussed YoYo Games’ Instant Play plugin, GMIndie Magazine (sorry!  Please take it in jest), how you can win Game Maker 8 pro and piracy of Game Maker.
