I think a running average could be accompanied to better show the trend of magazine releases.

It was actually a double triple dip recession – two months with zero releases after the boom.
If you notice it’s every other month, and the months inbetween do actually have data, so I presume it was just an anti-clogging measure.

This graph seems to be missing an article. However, it’s still interesting, and I assume the months you missed out had no releases.
As you can see, there was a global GM Magazine crash, which harmed frequent readers, reading frequency in which there reading frequency was put off by previously frequent releases.
