Blog watch

In the past few weeks a couple of new GameMaker magazine associated blogs have opened.
GMKing on openness:
In a post on the recently launched GMKing network blog Robin Monks, a co-editor of MarkUp, gives a brief insight into the decision making process behind the magazine.

MarkUp 14 is out

The 14th issue of the MarkUp game development magazine has been released. At 54 pages in length it is over twice as long as April’s issue 13 and also sports a brand new red colour scheme.

MarkUp is back (not immediately)

The most recent issue of a GameMaker magazine to be released is GMM’s fourth issue.
We haven’t seen MarkUp release an issue since their 13th (or should I say XIII) back in late April. However work is well underway on the 14th issue as this scrambled picture released by Eyas shows.

Russell’s Quarterly, issue 2

Yet another high quality issue of Russell’s Quarterly. This time with 81 (!) pages.
Although not strictly a Game Maker magazine, it’s still one of the best. One thing I’ve noticed that it seems to have a small focus on old (Nintendo) games. "Next time: Wisdom Tree" only pushes this point further.
Great job, Russell.

MarkUp 13 is out

After a false start earlier in the month the April issue of GMKing’s gamemaker development magazine, MarkUp, has been released.
You can download issue 13 here (pdf, 1.9MB)

Which way to go?

The rise of GameMaker Tech, launch of Game Maker Magazine and apparent demise of MarkUp has put me in an awkward position. Which magazine do I contribute to?
Previously MarkUp has been my magazine of choice, but I haven’t really been happy with what has been going on their for the last couple of months. I’m [...]
