This video isn’t intended as a “Best Of”; there were so many noteworthy games last year we could have filled several videos! Instead, a variety of games were picked to show how diverse Game Maker games can be. The choices are only based on personal preference; undoubtedly different people would include a different 100 games.
In the 2009 video there were only 2 restrictions, although this year they’ve been relaxed a bit:
Each developer may only have up to 2 games in the video. This year collaborations have been counted separately to games the developers made solo, for example Super Crate Box doesn’t count to Jan Willem Nijman’s 2 games and so on.
Works in progress have been excluded, but projects that have been released despite development continuing have been put in provided they have been released as a finished game (for example. Desktop Dungeons and Dustforce) rather than being released for feedback
Special thanks to James Rhodes for recording assistance, Philip Gamble and Jack Brockley for help finding games, Ted Lauterbach and Liam Berry for music and Paul Eres, whose wonderful video inspired this one.

No tutrips? just kidding, great work
That’s awesome.
My god, tons of shoot ’em ups this time around. Or feels like it, anyways.
Very nice video, makes me want to go play some of these. Seems like forever ago that Ninjammin Beat Jitsu and They Need To Be Fed came out.
OOOOOh! No pixelry? No way! 😛
Wow — once again, a fantastic bit of work that must have been a real exercise in dedication. And thanks for the inclusion of my two efforts.
This is an impressive video, that really shows off the rnage of things people are doing with GM.
Thanks again.
Aftermath’s there!
I feel loved~
I should actually work on the sequel.
Great video, well deserved games. Finding those few precious seconds of footage for each game must be a pain.
Thanks for featuring Ruined! I almost thought it had died until I took a look at this video.
Haha! I didn’t mean to sound rude, it was just that I had tried to get in touch with them a lot, and it turned out to be a big misunderstanding to say the least.
As for the press thing, I totally agree, and its something that I really hate doing. I understand the need for it, but it’s easily the part I dislike the most about the whole process, since getting any kind of exposure whatsoever is really tough to do anymore.
Last year’s music selection was a little better. Still a great video, though.
It’s nice. You did a good job on this, mate. =)
Thanks for the positive feedback guys!
The variety and breadth of quality of Game Maker games is superbly captured in this fabulously prepared compilation. The fact that there were many good games not featured in the video only emphasises this. 🙂
*expects Jack to make “1000 good game maker games in 100 minutes” next year*
Disclaimer, this comment shouldn’t be taken to seriously.
Thanks for including my LudumDare entry Volatile! It’s great to see another vastly varied year of releases — thanks for the compilation, I’m sure it’s quite an effort putting all this together!
Thanks so much for mentioning Supa Blast O Naut! I put a lot of love into that game, and it’s getting an iphone release in the next couple of months, but it never got that much recognition (it’s page counts only 41 plays), so seeing it on here means a helluva lot to me!
Yeah, I saw you slapping Michael Rose about on IGB :3
I should probably add that apart from being a really fun, original game (I thoroughly enjoyed it), your game was one of the hardest to find in the video. I would have TOTALLY missed it if it wasn’t for the GMC review (and keep in mind I was on the active lookout for fun GM games ALL YEAR). Did you post it anywhere else?
Making this video I’ve found it’s really hard to get press from the GMC alone; almost all the GMC-only games have had no press. Posting to a range of communities should increase your chances of being seen.
It also helps to make friends with decent people on the indie scene. Twitter’s a good way of getting word out, too.
Is there like a package where we can download all of them at once?
No. And I’d imagine it would take a lot of effort to get all of the creators to agree to their game being redistributed.
These are always entertaining to watch; thanks for making one again. 🙂
Wow, fantastic! Id like to express my gratitude to the contributors of this video; I made something like this for the AGBIC competition and know how much work goes into these! So thanks a lot! This video opened my eyes to how many games I actually played this year haha xD
No Norrland?
There are 2 Cactus games in there (and remember I’ve stuck to 2 games per dev save for collabs). I remind you that this isn’t a best of, and it’s based on personal preference. I wanted Ultra Mission and Dear Agent in there because they’ve had less attention than Norrland, but they’re still crazy fun.
Wow, so many great games came from GM this year. Fantastic selection, as was last year’s. 🙂
