GMWeekly and Magazine Stats

Darren Poole has released his sixth issue of GMWeekly (mediafire dl) – one day late. This means that GMWeekly has now released as many issues as GameMaker Scope. If Weekly continues to release on-time it will have reached its 20th issue by the end of the year making it the GameMaker magazine which has released the most issues ever. Obviously it should be noted that the magazines all have different release schedules, so we would Read more…

The 4 GameMaker magazines

Recently we have seen new releases from the three of the magazines devoted to the GameMaker platform. GameMakerTech and MarkUp are the publications that have released the most issues to date with 13 and 14 magazines respectively. New this year are two magazines – out with the lack of originality and in with a brand of mouthwash made by Procter & Gamble for Matthew Haigh’s magazine with 5 issues out since February. MarkUp is back (not immediately)

The most recent issue of a GameMaker magazine to be released is GMM’s fourth issue. We haven’t seen MarkUp release an issue since their 13th (or should I say XIII) back in late April. However work is well underway on the 14th issue as this scrambled picture released by Eyas shows. If you are interested in contributing to the MarkUp game development magazine visit their website or forum.

Where is GMTech?

In the past I have often compared the latest magazine releases from MarkUp and GameMakerTech. After Game Maker Magazine issue 3 and MarkUp issue 13 were released in April I was asked by Eyas if I would be making a comparison post. I replied that I would probably not until GameMakerTech released their 12th issue which I believed would be soon. However it appears that the latest issue of GameMakerTech has been substantially delayed. I Read more…

Russell’s Quarterly, issue 2

Yet another high quality issue of Russell’s Quarterly. This time with 81 (!) pages. Although not strictly a Game Maker magazine, it’s still one of the best. One thing I’ve noticed that it seems to have a small focus on old (Nintendo) games. "Next time: Wisdom Tree" only pushes this point further. Great job, Russell.
