Mark Overmars has revealed that YoYo Games received over 25 applications from people wanting to make free-to-use sprites for distribution with Game Maker 8. The spriters’ identities however have not been revealed as contracts have not yet been made with the successful applicants.
YoYo’s search now turns to sound effects that will be distributed in the next version of their free game creation software.
Game Maker 8 has a planned release of “during or after the summer”.
I’ll try to make some effect right now at home, if they are good, I’m going to submit them! 😀
@TheMyst
At least they’re not as bad as 3DRealms!
YYG has a warped sense of time in the same way that Valve does, only worse.
So it means everything almost is done, and they beta testing it. I hope I’m wrong, but is GM8 suppose only to include the new sprite editor? Because I didn’t hear anything newer than that. But though, since last version (GM7), it’s been 2 years, so there might be something new except the new sprite editor.
Lets just see if it does get released that soon.
