IndiePub Games $100,000 Independent Developer Competition

IndiePub Games, formerly known as 2BeeGames, are holding their third game design competition. The prize fund has substantially increased from early competitions with the re-branded site now offering $100,000 along with a publishing offer for the first placed game as well as smaller cash prizes (see below).

IndiePub Games contest prizes:

The Grand Prize winner gets a $100,000 cash prize and the option for a publishing deal with Zoo Games. Our panel of industry experts and indie developers will determine the winner.

The Community Favorite is determined by votes from the indiePub community, starting on August 1st. The winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize.

There are five Public Recognition Winners: one each for Technical Excellence, Art, Audio, Design, and a Staff Pick. These winners will each win a $1,000 prize.

Game Maker games have done well in the first two contests held by the organisation.  At the end of last year Climb to the Top of the Castle won the $10,000 first prize after four games made in Game Maker had made it into the final 10.

In July 2009 Save the Planet scooped a $2,500 community favourite award in an earlier 2BeeGames contest after two Game Maker games made the final 6.

Games should be submitted by July 31st. For more details and to enter visit IndiePub Games.

  1. Hey Terence.

I plan on entering this competition, and I would love to see the money split up a little bit because I know that I won’t be placing first, but I think I can make a pretty good game and would love to make some money this summer. I like the idea of 80,00 15,00 and 5,000. But even 50,000 for first would be really ridiculous and you’d still have lots of money to give out to the top 8 games or so.

  2. Elmernite :I personally wish there were a couple more prizes. Maybe cut the winner down to $80,000 and add a second place $15,000 and a third place $5,000. But that is just me, I like the concept of getting a reward for getting close. I understand that takes some away from the grand winner, but still.
I read the rules, I guess this is basically a free for all, no theme, design whatever you want type of comp?

Hi Elmernite, this is Terence from indiePub. We are looking into possibly splitting up the prize, or maybe just adding in more prize money. If everyone wants it, then we’ll try to do it!

And yeah, no theme, just any game.
