A Game Maker for Mac decompiler [above] was under construction just prior to YoYo’s very public cease and desist regarding the decompiler for iOS Game Maker games. I have not been able to get hold of the developer since that story broke so have no idea as to whether they intend to continue with the project and release it.
Nothing impossible to beat. Like we both know, the hackers are always a step ahead.
What I will conjure up is some form of DRM that will keep away the noobs from stealing code.
Great. Really nice. :/
The best part is that it’s a Mac App Store violation to add your own DRM to your application bundles, so I can’t really do anything about this for my commercial stuff.
But I’m going to counter this guy, preventing ‘decompiling’ is rather easy on Macintosh. Expect something from the GMac Project soon.
In fact, I’d say he can already give up. 🙂
You’re awfully smug. I want to see what you can conjure up.
Lol, I take it the main developer doesn’t want his name mentioned?
Personally, I think he released information on this a little too soon, but whatever.
I think this is hilarious.
It’s also good to hear that he managed to get decryption working, I handed him the method Windows was using (or at least I tried) and it wouldn’t work properly.
Also, GM4Mac doesn’t use OGL, it uses SDL, which uses OGL.
It’s still using OGL, then, just indirectly.
D3DX8… isn’t it for Windows ? 😀
No. I’m told (by the author) D3DX8 is included in the Mac games!
Edit: You can actually see the authors surprise at this in the comment in the screenshot
You know, every time YYG makes a big deal to stop compilers and does not actually do anything, they are just encouraging people. They need to make good on their threats.
In reality that don’t care at all about decompilers at all. After all, they only affect us, the consumer.
They can’t afford to do anything, so they have to sit on empty threats.
