I came across an article by Aussie Bill Kerr who was looking at the popularity of gamemaker compared to other ‘similar’ products out there, in particular the software available at squeakland.org
It makes quite interesting reading as it compares various aspects of the programs and their communities, and suggests reasons why gamemaker comes out on top.
