GameMaker Studio 1.2 Release Introduces “YoYo Compiler”

Today GameMaker Studio version 1.2.1113 was officially released, notably introducing the unrestricted YoYo Compiler, and some minor branding changes.

Several export modules can take advantage of the YoYo Compiler, including Windows, iOS, and Android. The addition, to be sold separately at a price of USD $299.99, is free for current and future GameMaker Studio Master Collection owners. YoYo Games, the owners and developers of GameMaker, have suggested the YoYo Compiler has the potential to boost project performance “100 fold.” To use the YoYo Compiler, Master Collection owners need to configure GameMaker Studio for their desired target platform.

With the release of version 1.2, there has also been a slight change in branding to reflect the new YoYo Games and GameMaker branding introduced recently, however the company’s branding is currently inconsistent across their websites and products. A super-fan who tattooed the old GameMaker logo onto his arm must be wondering if he made a grave mistake.

Finally, the cost of GameMaker Studio Master Collection is set to increase by 60% to $799.99 within 24 hours of this post being published, so if you were planning to purchase it, this is your last chance to buy GameMaker Studio Master Collection for $499.99.
