Sheltered by Unicube has raised £30,148 (approximately $50,000) on the popular crowdfunding website Kickstarter.
Giving new meaning to the phrase “nuclear family”, Sheltered tasks you with keeping a mother and father, and their children, alive in the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust. Fortunately, an impenetrable underground fortress will help keep your family sheltered from the desolate post-apocalyptic wasteland above.
The successfully funded project was made with GameMaker Studio. Kickstarter has been a valuable fundraising platform for GameMaker developers. Sheltered joins the growing ranks of GameMaker projects that have been successfully funded on Kickstarter.
Sheltered will be available on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Android, iPad, PlayStation 4, and possibly Xbox One.

I’m sorry, but this game really doesn’t look like it requires $50k to make.
50,000 is what they raised, not what they asked for. Games can offer “stretch goals”, which are additional features/content they’ll take time to add if a certain amount is raised above the goal to fund the extra effort. This game reached a ton of stretch goals. It’s rarely just “raise x amount and pocket the rest”,
Except, even $1000 would be a crapton of money for a game like this. Every game I have made cost me nothing at all! Oh wait I lied, I actually payed $2 once for a stock background. big whoop man.
idk, maybe its a bigger game than you think. People were willing to donate this much for a reason
Kickstarter is doing a great job funding gaming projects. Great to hear this because the family story makes it a great title to have in my home. Can’t wait to check it out it on PS4.
Good on them! This sort of thing helps all GameMaker developers looking to get serious funding for their games.
