New GMB Feature: Vote.

January 25th, 2008 by Philip Gamble | Categories: Blog news

You can now vote “for” or “against” posts on GameMakerBlog.

If you like a post, press the green button to vote for it. Vote Up
If you dislike a post press the red arrow to vote against it. Vote Down

Based on the number of positive and negative votes received each post will be given a ‘quality’ score. That way I know what you want to read about and I can take action against those who post low quality posts. Strange I brought this about just after someone made their first post…. It is entirely connected.

The links to vote can be found at the end of every post on GameMakerBlog.

Awesome! Although the placement could use a bit more improvement…

Where do you think it should go?

I don’t really know, but it looks a bit iffy under every post :/

Maybe put it in the upper-right or -left? But cool :)

Make it a DIV that floats in the upper right.. yeah. you know.. style=”float: right;” before every post (after the title)

Yep, that’s where I’d put it.

I agree with comments 3-7 any of the suggested placements would look better.

Nice addition, i think it looks better at the bottom, that way, once you have read through the blog, you can then rate it at the bottom, rather than scrolling back to the top. Just makes things easier

top or bottom, I don’t care.. just make sure you give it a FLOAT CSS property.

I think it should be at the bottom of every post; float right or something, but the way it’s now looks just too dull

    Thoughts on the new position?

  14. January 27th, 2008 at 16:18

The new placement could be good, but it seems to break up the layout a bit on some posts, so it needs tweaking
