  1. This a good idea. Yo Yo keeps giving me ways to start learning game development for free or cheap and it’s very much appreciated.

  2. A very generous prize pool – 3x GM:S Master Collections up for grabs! Impressive. I hope YoYo games appreciates the traffic/sales your site generates for them. I actually discovered (and purchased) GM:S through your site. Keep up the great work…

  3. You’ve got a lot of variety in this giveaway! I think these giveaways are a great way of giving back to the game development community after all the success you’ve had with the HTML5 market. 🙂

  4. What an amazing time we live in. Developing has never been more accessible and easier! Thanks to YoYo and GM Blog and Scirra for putting together an opportunity like this, thanks for the chance! (Winning something would be that kick in the pants to end procrastinating and unlock this idea for a game in my head I’ve had for a some time now)

    Good luck, everyone!

  5. This is really neat. You do neat things, I’d like to one day be in the position where I can also do neat things like this. $100 is enough money to fund one developer on only the best instant noodles for like 2 months. I want to be this noodle commander.

  6. Fantastic giveaway! You are very generous with your knowledge and your business success, and with these contest you have a few times each year.
Unfortunately, old guys like me, who don’t have Facebook or Twitter, can’t enter. 🙁

Thanks, though, for the prizes and your big contributions to the dev community!

    Kevin

  7. Remember being a kid and getting excited about something, even though you know you can never have it (like a toy), or can never make it (like a game)? Well, at least GM gets that excited going for one of those.

  8. Great giveaway. I haven’t regularly followed this site but I’m constantly seeing its articles come up on twitter or other social media websites so I check those out when I can. Maybe I should start looking at this website more often! :p

  9. for anyone entering this draw, its a win win situation as you get something out of it regardless of your current standing. good luck to everyone.

  10. Very smart move by Scirra and amazing giveway, i’ve invested countless hours reading this blog and your reports, it’s justa amazing. :3

    Happy B-day

  11. I can’t wait to see who wins this! 😀
Best of luck to everyone, it’s awesome that the game making community is generous enough to provide this! Even more reason to start learning GML. 😛
Who knows? Perhaps a new programming star will arise because of this, I hope so!
Once again, best of luck, everyone!

  12. Great giveaway!
I know it wouldn’t be easier than that to enter the giveaway, but it would be cool if we have [in the future] a giveaway/contest that needs to submit a game/demo to participate.

  13. THE GAMES INDUSTRY IS DYING. A slavering, greedy, corrupted monster, the Games Industry devours itself, smothering creativity, subverting art, destroying the meaningful and passionate in favor of profitability. Only now it has become complacent and turgid, laying on its side and whimpering, over-full of its own hubris and self-serving ambition. This is the era of personal creativity. If we are to slay the beast and return gaming to the ranks of the passionate and inspired, we need new weapons. We need GameMaker, we need Construct, we need tools in the hands of those who care less about profit and more about expression. We need a movement of people in bedrooms and basements making games not because they want money, but because they love what they do, and these are the programs that will allow us to do so.

The old way is dead. All hail the Era of Creation.

  14. For the most part I started out on Game Maker (version 3). It’s great to see how far it’s come since it’s early years. It’s definitely become a great contender for rapid development!

  15. I hope this giveaway will give to us the chance to make great things with our creative minds 🙂 Good luck everybody

  16. I am going to be honest. I thought this was one of those scams or something where they having so amazing aimed at the right people, but this, this is like the kind of stuff I’m sure many people could use, especially those like me who are greatly affected by the economic downfall in America. While my family is still able to afford food, my mom’s bf has a job, and I got Xbox gold for a year and my bday is coming up, it is still amazing to see people doing this much good for people like all of us here who could greatly benefit from this. Keep up the good work!

  17. This is an amazing opportunity for aspiring game developers and all the tools above are great for beginners and advanced users. Thanks for the great giveaway and good luck to everyone!

  18. The prizes are awesome especially for someone living on a fixed income who has been using GM since version 4.0! As a senior citizen on a fixed income, GM:S is so far down on the list of things I can afford to spend money on. GM has been a wonderful gift for someone with disabilities that often mean spending hours resting in my recliner. I can “rest” while creating games for my granddaughters and great nieces and nephews as well as a few of the competitions on the GMC. Thanks for this blog and for the wonderful prizes. If I don’t win, still thanks for all you do to educate game makers on earning money from their passion for creating something new for others.

  19. So is there any hope for those of us who don’t have facebook/twitter?
Or are we doomed to never winning prizes?

  20. Congratulations on the Anniversary. This blog has been an invaluable tool for myself and my classmates, with our work in Game Maker. I have a number of articles from this blog linked in a master document on Google Drive just so I can come back easily to all the useful information.

  21. This is a great opportunity for current/future developers to have a chance at using some fantastic products! The products you all provide have really opened up the game industry to a whole new slew of incredible ideas and games from people who would have maybe never had such an opportunity to see their ideas come to fruition.

Thank you for everything you do and I cannot wait to see what great new games come from the winners of this contest!

  22. We live in an amazing time that the tools to make video games have become so readily available to basically everyone. I hope this means we get a lot of cool games as time passes. LONG LIVE INDIE GAMING!

  23. A great blog that has and continues to be a very helpful resource to me and many others, keep up the great work.

    Oh and an Impressive giveaway!

  24. Man any of these would be awesome!
True Valhalla your amazing putting on all these giveaways!
And congrats on 7 years running!

  25. This site has come a long way over the course of the last 7 years; good work Matt! I just miss the 100 GM games in 10 minute videos each year… Hope the community brings them back (:

  26. Wow, that’s a heck of a prize pool! Thanks Matthew, YoYo Games, and Scirra for teaming up for this. Good luck to the entrants.

  27. This giveaway is a godsend for devs like me! My computer is breaking down, and I’m going to have to replace it soon with the money I had planned on using for the master edition of Game Maker. I’ve only just started but my passion and drive are all consuming! I can’t imagine where i’d be if I hadn’t found Game Maker and started learning… I plan to make as many games as I can using Game Maker Studio, Along side unity, construct and pure coding. Even if I weren’t to win, I know someone like me most likely will. Someone who really needs the break, and has the passion and perseverance to make it in gamedev. This give away gives people like me hope.

  28. The information, education and opportunities given by this site are a true asset to the Game Maker community and game development alike.

    Congrats on the anniversary!
