100 Games in 1

Or - yet another attempt to flog CDs of GameMaker created games.
The team/person behind the project have rather aptly decided to name themselves “Pure Evil Productions” - bound, I’m sure, to inspire confidence in both game makers and game players.
The plan is for 100 GameMaker created games to be sold on a CD, with each [...]

YoYo Games virus scanner giving false positives?

True or not? What do you think happened? Is he just plain lying, did he unintentionally get infected or is it a real false positive?
In theory, I think it’s possible that the virus scanner at YYG could be detecting false positives in games because in the past, Game Maker was used to make a virus.

Site That Sells Games For You

Yet another of these topics has arisen in the distributing games section of the community, topics in which people relatively new to GameMaker come up with the oh-so-unoriginal idea of making a website to sell GameMaker made games.

Support YoYo Games!

In the latest post on YoYo Games’ Glog, Sandy asks Game Maker users to support the company by introducing their “friends and family” to it. No moderation: any topics that are dumb, useless and against forum rules stay alive for days
Nobody updating the pinned topics
13 year olds asking questions similar [...]

As part of an feature I have been writing for the 7th issue of the MarkUp game development magazine (out next month) I have been following the progress of a few game maker made games.
One of these games, Immortal Defense was included on the cover DVD of a magazine I read. StudioEres, creator [...]

Going Commercial

A shortened version of a lengthy feature about the different ways of earning money from games you have created. This was written for the 7th issue of MarkUp (released August 2007).
A history
Game Maker, its community, and the games people are creating with it have certainly come a long way. When I first found [...]

Promoting a game

Promoting a freeware game will be different from promoting a commercial game - the most important thing, I think, is to be aware of who your target audience is and to make sure they see your message.
Forum signatures are a great place to advertise since it is essentially free space, and if you are an [...]
